Well-intentioned grad student Jessica unwittingly stumbles into a strange, sordid fantasy when she invites runaway teen Nihar into her home. The fanciful tale he weaves unveils a debauched realm of exploitation and terror that threatens to unravel Jessica’s privileged worldview, but is any of it true, or merely the delusions of a troubled young mind? Drawing from A Midsummer Night's Dream, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's King of Shadows conjures a world more strange than true; a distempered fairyland which seeps through the cracks of reality.

  • Meet the Queen of Shadow (Puppetry): Interview with Libby Schap – "Puppetry is a wonderful medium for exploring a world in a safe and magical way, so I think it was a perfect match for this concept. Also, it helped having the word “shadow” in the title, to know which type of puppetry to use."
  • Review: Boston and Beyond – "This magnificently intense production grabs your attention within minutes of its start. At the brief intermission, I wanted to shout, “NO! Don’t stop now!” as the amazing plot was mesmerizingly bringing the audience to the edge of numerous, fervent, possible directions." -Susan Mulford
  • Review: Sleepless Critic – "Flat Earth’s multi-layered production, King of Shadows is best seen without revealing too many details. Though it’s an increasingly outlandish tale, King of Shadows has more than its share of suspense, leaving the audience constantly wondering where each character’s loyalty truly lies." -Jeanne Denizard
  • Review: New England Theatre Geek – "Ramkissoon’s performance is a highlight of the production. His fine work gives credence to Nihar’s extravagant story. We are uncertain of Nihar’s past, but we believe his trauma." -Kitty Drexel
