Our Mission...
We are artists who share a passion for creating theatre. We strive to immerse ourselves and others in our storytelling; to make the boundaries between actor and audience disappear. We are entertainers who believe in theatre as a vehicle for ideas and new forms of expression. We seek to produce thought-provoking art that both challenges and entertains.
Company Members
Kevin Mullins
Kevin graduated from Hampshire College in 2007 with a BA in Playwriting and Arts Management. A native of Watertown, Kevin got his start in theatre with the Watertown Children's Theatre. While studying at Watertown High School, Kevin was highly involved in the school's theatre arts program. At Hampshire, he served as facilitator of the school's Theatre Board which controls which direction the theatre department will take throughout the year including monetary allocation and slotting.
An accomplished playwright, several of Kevin's own plays have been produced. Including the true-crime drama, Thrill, which explores the story of early thrill killers Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb, Joe, the tale of a disenfranchised man seeking revenge for the death of his wife, and most recently, The Empress, a twisted, futuristic whodunit story of regicide, greed, and forbidden love.
Kevin's major areas of interest are playwriting, producing, theatre for young audiences, and theatre for social change. He is a firm believer that the medium of Theatre can be used as a powerful tool to teach and enlighten - as well as entertain.
Jake Scaltreto
Jake is a long time theatre enthusiast and actor having been involved with the theatre from a young age with the Watertown Children's Theatre and other organizations. Notable acting roles include Lazar Wolf in Fiddler on the Roof, Mr. MacAfee in Bye Bye Birdie, Buzzy Burdet in Monk Ferris's Bone-Chiller!, and Mr. Vernon in a stage adaptation of the film The Breakfast Club. Jake also directed Flat Earth's production of Joe in 2006 and most recently directed the shorts Words, Words, Words and Variations on the Death of Trotsky as part of David Ives's All in the Timing. He also returned to the stage in All in the Timing as Bill in Sure Thing.
In addition to his theatrical contributions, he is also the webmaster and designer of Flat Earth's web site.
Sarah Kimball
Inspired by the Peterborough Players, a summer stock theater in the town she was born, Sarah developed a love of theatre at a young age. Throughout high school and college she has worked on and acted in theatre and film projects, including Titus Andronicus and many original works. After graduating from Hampshire College in 2007, she joined forces with Kevin and Jake to help develop Flat Earth Theatre. While she tends to play more of an administrative role in the company, she still acts. Recently she played the Valet in the Flat Earth Theatre's production of No Exit.
Coriana Hunt Swartz
Coriana Hunt Swartz graduated from Hampshire College in 2007 (you may be sensing a pattern here). What she studied there is anybody's guess, but somehow she ended up passing as a costume designer. So much so that her design work has been seen not only on the Hampshire College Mainstage but at the Commonwealth Opera of Western Mass and in an upcoming short film from Lobsterback Entertainment, as well as in Flat Earth's production of No Exit.
As an actress, Coriana has previously performed with PY in the Sky Productions (as JoJo the Burro and several other roles in Crossing the Threshold), the Certain Players (3rd Watch in Much Ado About Nothing), and in many shows at Randolph Union High School (most notably as Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream). She also participated in the yet-to-be-released improvisational internet theatre experiment, The Infinite Monkeys Project.
Coriana is utterly fascinated by the bounded tensions inherent in the construction of wings.
